“The disciplined and the wild”

Films: Cabal (2020)

Alias: Sallos

Type: Natural

Location: Forest

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: You know what would be awesome? A serial killer movie, except the spy genre somehow got thrown in there as well. That may seem perfect on paper, but it's ultimately the execution that matters. And while getting the guy who gave us Havoc this year was a good idea for the gore part, it cannot save much of anything else.

History: A seemingly unbeatable secret agent codenamed Dragonfly has been sent on a rather unusual mission. As opposed to toppling a government conspiracy or something, he's going to the woods. But this isn't just a mandated vacation. Deep in these woods is a deranged killer named Sallos, who has evaded the law for too long. But not only are Dragonfly's higher-ups not quite as trustworthy as they seem, but this crazed recluse is a bit more difficult to beat than he counted on.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After a long bloody battle, Sallos seems to have the upper hand. It takes getting the slightest distraction from one of the surviving girls so that Dragonfly can rip out the madman's intestines, ending his reign of terror for good.

Powers/Abilities: None.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-Sallos may not be terribly original, but few killers are seen going toe-to-toe with trained spy killers and nearly coming out on top. Not helping is his unsettling mask, which looks like three different people's faces stitched together. A fitting look for such a horrific being. Then again, try as he might, this excursion proved that serial killers, immortal ones notwithstanding, can be dealt with if they gain too much notoriety.

Trivia: -This film was directed by Rene Perez, the same guy who gave us "Playing With Dolls" and its sequels. He REALLY wanted to get out attention this year, didn’t he?

-Sallos derives his name from the 19th of the 72 demons from the Ar Goetia. A Great Duke of Hell, he is mostly depicted as a man riding atop a gargantuan crocodile. Yet in spite of his intimidating visage, he is actually one of the nicer demons in the Goetia, constantly encouraging people to fall in love with one another.
